A longtime nonprofit leader and life-long Rhode Islander, Senator Urso was elected to the State Senate in 2024 and serves as the president and CEO of the Old Slater Mill Association. She has broad experience in public service, historic preservation, and organizational leadership. Sen. Urso formerly served as a Westerly Town Councilor and is the recipient of multiple awards including an EPA Lifetime Achievement Award and the Pawtucket Foundation Award of Special Distinction. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Rhode Island. Lori is a mother, grandmother, and rescue-dog mom who shares a passion for music with her husband and partner of 22 years, Marty Richards.
